A thrilling continuation in the Howl's Castle series. Filled with fun and whimsy, magic and adventure, day dreams that come true, and a happily ever after ending.
I loved the world building on this one and the way the characters perfectly complimented the setting. I was delighted with the amazing variations of flattery from the main character. I've never read anything like it. So unique. Needless to say, I was thoroughly impressed with Diana Wynne Jones's mastery of language.
A magic carpet ride of a book.
Note: There is a scene with a marked amount of body shaming in this one--a yucky reminder of how crappy the 80's were. The scene was so off-putting that I nearly lowered my rating to 4 stars. But, in the end, I think the book has enough other redeeming qualities, that I'm holding at 5 with my rating. Still, be warned. The scene is pretty cringey.
